How Can We Help?
2nd special meeting (September 2020)
Introduction
The committee responsible for Bras-J met online Friday, September 4th, 2020 at 2 pm (Berlin time) to discuss the roles for working in the journal. The meeting was conducted by Thais Cavalcanti and secretariat by Matheus Hebling. The meeting was attended by Matheus Zago, Giovanna Ibernon, Cláudia Pires, Anna Bennech, Lucas Fraga, and Eric Nogueira.
The meeting started with a general discussion of Bras and all members were informed of Luan Cassal’s disconnection of the group. The justification was due to the amount of work during the year of 2020. All members thanked Luan’s work and presence in the beginning of the group. Jayane Maia also asked to be removed from Bras-J and be inserted into another area of the group for the same reason.

Editorial work
Thais asked members to consider the themes and areas and their diversity, considering the number of members and their educational background. It was also pointed that our editorial line may change in the future according to the group’s structure. Thais gave Sociologia e Política’s journal as an example.
Matheus Zago said that there was not a member to help with some areas, such as Antrophology and because of this, we should stay closer to Political Science. Matheus Hebling said that we should think about publishing political objects from different areas, which would marry the two predominant ideas in the group. Giovanna Imbernon transdisciplinary approach, having the political as an object. Also asked Thais’ questions on her academic background as a sociologist/political scientist/cultural studies student. Eric Nogueira pointed to the fact that we should define the roles beforehand. Anna Bennech agreed with Matheus Hebling’s idea and pointed to the fact we can always invite someone to join us if necessary. Lucas Fraga call everyone’s attention to the difficulties we may have as we enlarge our editorial line. Thais Cavalcante also agreed with Matheus H’s, Anna’s and Giovanna’s ideas on the political object/transdisciplinary lens mentioned previously. Lucas Fraga referred to the fact that the documents should be clear to the reader and future authors so we can receive what is expected.
The following editorial line was unanimously approved by the members:
Bras-J publishes original and high-quality works on Brazil. It focuses on political and social objects, promoting innovative methodological and theoretical perspectives through a transdisciplinary lens.
