Introduction

The committee responsible for BRaS-Blog met online on Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at 3 pm (Berlin time) with the members of Boletim Lua Nova to discuss the partnership between both organizations. The meeting was conducted by Lucas Baptista (Boletim Lua Nova) and Giovanna Imbernon (BRaS) was in charge of the minutes. Matheus Hebling (BRaS) and Andréia Cardoso (Boletim Lua Nova) also attended the meeting.

Partnership

The meeting started with a general presentation on both organizations, their current work, and what are some of the objectives expected for the collaboration.

Lucas Baptista talked about how Boletim Lua Nova is willing to contribute to a short- and medium-term partnership, providing not only materials — articles, reviews, interviews, among others — but also contributing in different ways so both organizations can benefit from the joint work. He also highlighted the importance of diversifying how both publish their works and connections with other groups and scholars interested in the dissemination of knowledge. Besides that, he pointed out how BRaS works are connected with Boletim Lua Nova’s core mission of studying and discussing democracy in Brazil.

In the sequence, Matheus Hebling presented BRaS and BRaS-Blog objectives and talked about how it aims at broadening its connections for future publications on the blog. He also pointed out how BRaS is willing to contribute to Boletim Lua Nova with articles and other types of materials. Similarly, he revealed how the organization is interested in being connected to institutions not only based in Brazil, but those which are focused on studying Brazil, its political scenario, and other important matters.

Regarding formal aspects of the partnership, Andréia Cardoso, Lucas Baptista, Matheus Hebling, and Giovanna Imbernon emphasized the importance of having a formal document attesting the partnership to show the community both organizations are committed to this joint project as well as to set a one-year commitment on publishing, which can be renewed after its expiration. That said, the members who participated in this meeting will draft a proposal to be discussed and signed by both parties within the next few days.

After all the aforementioned subjects the next meeting has no specific date, and the members will discuss the conditions by e-mail and set a date for the next meeting.
